Ground Zero straight ahead.  TV pictures just did not do justice to what we saw. Security checks points like the one above were everywhere in the downtown area.

Thousands of people posted pictures of their missing loved-ones throughout the city on any vacant wall. Below the pictures,  on the side walks, were flowers, candles and momentos.

Another look at "Ground Zero" from the south side.  This skeleton edifice was a monument to the slain and became the a focal point for television crews from around the world.  When it was taken down later, it was saved for later use in a future memorial.
