98' Dayton Air Show
The team again this year participated as a medical unit
at the 1998 Dayton Air Show. Elements of the team gathered at the
team building at the VA, at 12 noon on Friday, July 17. They then
loaded supplies and tents into our truck and transported the same to the
airport. Upon arriving the team erected one GP-Medium tent and establishede
a parameter. Saturday and Sunday the team provided medical
care for the event. The team also set up HF, satellite, cellular
data, and VHF hand-held and base communications on Sunday to test these
systems and train team personnel.
Most care delivered was of a minor nature. One patient
was also transported to a local hospital for follow up. The weather was
great and the temperatures moderate for July, so heat related injuries
were minimal. DMAT team members were also assisted by VA personnel in several
roles.
